TRIGGER TREAT! ASMR FUN AT HALLOWEEN
Ahh, Halloween! A holiday for many, but for tricksters who experience the treats of ASMR, there’s no shortage of triggers to fill your goodie bags.
Think of the excitement of seeing those Halloween shops pop up in vacant retail spaces around town. For many of us, they’re not just stores, they’re portals to our childhoods; to the thrill of becoming the costume you wore to around in the dark, demanding candy from strangers like the sugar high had already kicked in. Loyal, dependable, glorious Halloween! There’s nothing that transports you like the feeling of your fingertips brushing against ghoulish masks or sparkly wands or running through chintzy wigs to get you in that cozy Halloween mood. Nothing like the sticky plastic flipping of racks of vinyl costume packages or bubbling, cackling, creaking sound effects to send shivers up your arms and tingles down your spine. Which brings us to possibly the best Halloween sound of all for delicious ASMR: The Candy Sort
It’s a rite of passage. A timeless ritual. After holding up your neighbours for free food, you take your haul home, dump it on the ground and examine it for tampering in case one of said neighbours is a maniac. We’re talking mountains of chocolates, chips, gummies and more. Even those molasses candies with the witch on them nobody liked! Whether you go through the goodies with your own children or recall doing it in your youth, swirling those crinkly, crunchy wrappers around, sorting by colours or flavours or favourites, is an ASMR delight. And the sorter gets a cut! Speaking of candy…
There are hundreds of candy-making videos on YouTube to relax you and get you in the Halloween spirit. Personally, I love Rock and Rolls Candy Artists or Hercules Candies. If watching candy chefs stir colourful dyes into molten sugar doesn’t ring your tingles doorbell, maybe watching a cornstarch mold-making process will. I’m just saying. These videos are highly addictive.
